To request a Chaplain:
WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO:
- Many individuals have religious and/or spiritual needs, questions, or concerns while in the hospital. If you have any such needs, Chaplains are here to see that they are met.
- Whether you are an inpatient or an outpatient, you can ask to see a chaplain to talk about religious, spiritual, moral or ethical issues.
- We will also provide ministry and supportive counseling to your immediate family members.
- Chaplains work with people of all faiths, and people who belong to no faithgroup. Each chaplain is sensitive to the religious needs of many separate religious denominations and faith groups.
- Chaplains want to ensure each patient the opportunity to practice his or her religious faith to the greatest extent possible while hospitalized. This includes arranging for worship services, ceremonies and observances, addressing dietary needs, providing you with religious literature, and finding clergy or other religious leaders in the community to meet your needs when necessary.
- Chaplains are members of your health care team. The team develops a specific plan of care for you that assures that all of your needs, physical, mental, social and spiritual, are addressed.
- Chaplains develop ties with the churches, synagogues, and other organizations in the neighboring community. These ties support the medical center mission.
- Chaplains may NEVER attempt to change or influence your religious beliefs or practices; and they uphold your right to be protected from attempts by anyone else to do so while you are here.
- A chaplain is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year, to handle any emergency. However, it may require a wait for the chaplain to respond outside of normal duty hours.
- Chaplains are normally on duty from 7:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Prayer of Hope:
O God, when hopelessness threatens to engulf me, buoy me with your hope. Let me look to the future that is awaiting me with anticipation, knowing that you are with me and will be with me at every juncture. Even if physical healing is not possible, I ask for spiritual and relational healing with you and others. Amen
God's Watchfulness
Watch, dear God, with those who wake or watch, or weep tonight, and give your angels charge over those who sleep. Tend your sick ones; rest your weary ones; bless your dying ones, soothe your suffering ones; shield your joyous ones; and all for your Love's sake. Amen
In Time of Sickness
Teach me the art of patience while I am well, and give me the use of it when I am sick. In that day either lighten my burden or strengthen my back. In my health, so often I have discovered my weakness of presuming on my own strength. Make me to be strong in my sickness when I rely solely on your assistance and you. Amen
