Situation Update

As of Wednesday, April 1, 2020 8:41 AM EDT

Please check this page for frequent status updates.

As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve in our local communities and across the country, the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center is taking additional steps to limit the potential spread of this virus or other respiratory illnesses. Please check this page for frequent status updates.

Visitor Policy Update

Effective March 25, visitors are no longer permitted to enter the facility grounds or outlying clinics. Exceptions include end-of-life situations or if the visitor is a caregiver and the patient relies on said caregiver for transportation and mobility. Children under the age of 18 are also not permitted at this time. We understand that this places a hardship on family members and loved ones, but safety is our primary concern right now. We encourage you to use phone calls or text messaging, FaceTime, Google Hangouts, and Skype to stay in touch with loved ones. We must protect our patients, staff and you.

Additional Information:

  • Enhanced screening is taking place at our main medical center and outlying clinics. All individuals entering the main campus will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms. Entry points are limited to the Blue Heron and Military Trail entrances. The Military Trail entrance is open 24/7. Blue Heron entrances (Victory Lane and Loyalty Lane) are open for entry Monday thru Friday, 6:00 am to 9:00 am and for exit Monday thru Friday, 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. Please allot extra travel time. Use caution and make a complete stop for screening checks as you enter the campus. View our parking map
  • Valet parking has relocated to the main entrance. All patients using valet parking must stop at the outdoor booth near the main entrance.
  • Building 10 is closed until further notice. For benefits questions, such as Disability Benefits, call 1-800-827-1000, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 9:00 pm or visit the eBenefits website.

Call before you visit VA facilities:

The best way to prevent illness is to limit exposure to people who might have this virus. All Veterans who have symptoms (fever, cough and shortness of breath) should call the VISN 8 Clinical Contact Center at 1-877-741-3400 for triage and instruction before coming to the medical center or clinics. The safest place for you, unless you may require hospitalization, is home.

We understand these changes may be inconvenient to some, but we are doing what is necessary to protect the health of our patients and staff.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue navigating this situation.

Life-threatening medical or mental health emergencies:
Veterans who are experiencing medical or mental health emergencies are asked to visit the nearest emergency room or dial 9-1-1.

Sign-up for automatic email updates by filling in your email address in the “Emergency Email Updates” section, located at the top right corner of this page. Check this page or our Facebook page for frequent updates.
