VA to Honor Veterans During National Salute Week

West Palm Beach, Fla. – The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has marked National Salute to Veteran Patients week, February 10-16, 2019. The West Palm Beach VA Medical Center will host events all week to pay tribute and express appreciation to Veterans; increase community awareness of the role of the VA medical center; and encourage citizens to become involved as volunteers at VA.

“The National Salute to Veteran Patients week provides an opportunity for our community to pay tribute to America’s heroes,” said West Palm Beach VA Medical Center Director Donna Katen-Bahensky. “This week we salute these brave individuals who have paid and continue to pay the price of freedom.”

In Fiscal Year 2018, more than 500 volunteers gave back to Veterans at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center by providing more than 75,000 volunteer hours. Nationwide, over 75,000 volunteers provide more than 12 million volunteer hours serving Veterans. Volunteers are a priceless asset to the nation’s Veterans and to the department.
